INDIO WRVA, JAN 7-11, 2026
Most of the Romers group came in Jan. 6 as volunteers. It was quite an experience getting located on our site. There were only 3 different people trying to tell us 3 different things. We felt really bad for all of them. They apparently didn't have walkie talkies to talk to us or each other. It only took 2 hours to get us positioned. We were all exhausted by the time we got to our spots.
This year the event was much smaller than past years, but many were still able to get some maintenance, etc accomplished. We continued to support the event with 15 of our heartier members volunteering as "cart drivers", ranging from at 6:30am to 9:30pm.
However, not to be deterred, we all had a great time, terrific food and plenty of wonderful camaraderie. Our attendees included 23 rigs, 2 guest rigs and 4 members staying off site. In all the 25 participant rigs, etc totaled 10 percent of the total event participants...pretty good showing I'd say.
I have to congratulate Juan for providing the best bar ever, he even had diet tonic for your newsletter editor's gin and tonic. I don't think there was a person who couldn't find a drink that suited them. Additionally, Debbie and Janet out did themselves with a great caterer, the food was fabulous (I do love the catered dinners!)
At the Chapter Fair, the first evening, we met some amazing RVers, several who attended our Open House on Saturday evening. We served drinks, pizza & salad and enticed several wonderful new members, all of whom we are so excited to get to know better. Welcome to: Richard & Betty Bark, Sven & Kristi Beck, Tad & Ann Biller, Julie Burger, Paul & Mariner Dal Porto, Tracy Deitschman, Jack & Ruthie Dunlap, Tim & Donna Mast, Norbert & Nancy Murphy, Matt & Sheryl Schwochert and Merlin Wagner & Rebecca Lewis

President's Report

This year's WRVA Rally was another success and I want to thank all of you who participated and assisted. A special thanks to Juan and Debbie for supplying the beverages we all enjoyed. In addition, the logistics coordination of Debbie and Janet in providing the caterer as well as tables and chairs is much appreciated. The chapter fair, fest and open house were also a great success with the addition of several new members. Thank you to Susan, Kate, Sharon, and Dean & Anne for their participation in each of these events.
A giant thanks to John VanDoren, our Past President, for the great job he did in guiding our club through the last two years. I look forward to his counsel as I assume the duties of President. The next two years will be a blast with upcoming rallies in Paso Robles and Jackson Rancheria for 2026. Dean, our new V.P. is already coordinating future rallies for 2027. Please volunteer to be a Rally Master or Co-Rally Master in 2027. We are counting on you!

Report

Romers had a good turnout for the Western Area Rally in Indio - 25 total coaches with four members staying off site! Not too soon to be thinking about next year. Mark your calendars for January 6th - 10th 2027

The next FRVA convention is being held in Perry, Georgia on March 18-21, 2026. See the registration form on page 72 in the current January/February issue of the Family RVing magazine.

Check out Page 79 for the form to attend the Northwest Area Rally being held in North Bend, Oregon on June 17-20, 2026. It is like Indio but hopefully bigger.

If you want to attend the FRVA International convention in Sedalia, Missouri on July 1-4, 2026, that registration is on page 47. Of additional interest is the Midwest Area Rally being held July 5-6, 2026 immediately following the FRVA Rally at the same Fairgrounds! See page 81.

Let me know if you will be attending any of these Rallies and I can you connect with other of our members who will also be attending.
Safe Travels!

John: Intermitent 12VDC Power to EMS panel due to burned contact(s) in Molex at 12VDC board below MPP (Main Power Panel). Jim Clark will come over with proper pins to find a new Molex connector.

Gary: Parasitic voltage draw from chassis batteries; Colton Truck removed battery disconnect switch to allow ECM, Co2 Monitor, etc. Bill DeLack recommended a knife switch for full disconnect.

Juan: BlueFire J-1939 v. J1708 Terminal

Tire Pressure Monitor System can prevent a catastrophic tire failure on your Motorhome. There are several brands, one of which is Tire Minder. However, some of the members noted that they have had false reading from these systems.

CARB: Several members had their Opacity Test for CARB done while in Indio, by Clean Truck Check...for free, however, it was suggested you donate to Catholic Charities. The caveat of course is that this test must be done within 90 days of license renewal. John had his done but it is unknown if it will get me by next July's registration, as it was outside mandatory 90 day window.

SUNSHINE
We were so excited to have Bill DeLack back with us his sense of humor and jokes have really been missed. Thanks Bill for joining us again. Hope to see you in Paso.

Debbie Holt canceled her knee surgery and is in the midst of Physical Therapy. Yea! No surgery...for now. Do what you are told Debbie.
SHOWERS
Romers sent cards and flowers to Nancy Holt, in memory of Duncan, a Past President. We are saddened by his passing, his ever present joyfulness and his cheerful laugh will be deeply missed.
